Dean Search Update

Interviews for five candidates have been scheduled between January 11 – February 2, 2018. Some candidates who interviewed during the last round are still part of the pool. The search is still open, and additional candidates can still apply and be considered.

Alternative SIRS

The SIRS Subcommittee met and came up with an updated draft, which consists of 6 yes/no and 2 open-ended question. A draft will be distributed in the middle of January with the hope of approval by the FAC at the February meeting. The stated purpose of improving the course will be part of the assessment. It was noted that at some point an evaluation to be used for faculty RPT, etc. will be necessary.

University Award Recipient Update

F. Peterson reported that NatSci faculty did very well with obtaining university awards. Of the 14 college nominations made, 8 were granted awards. It seems the instruction to nominees provided by the FAC and their review of packets before submission pays off. A list of all university award recipients was distributed to the FAC via email in late December.

Chemistry Bylaw Review

Council members completed the review of the Chemistry Bylaws. F. Peterson will compile comments and forward them to CEM.
