Janae Currington, assistant director of academic advising in the MSU College of Natural Science (NatSci) Office of Academic Student Affairs, has been selected for the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Great Lakes Region 5 Excellence in Advising – Primary  Role Award.

The NACADA advising primary role award recognized individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students.

“Janae is an exceptionally dedicated advisor,” said Mark Voit, NatSci associate dean for undergraduate studies. “I deeply value her insights about students and her ability to mentor others in the art of student advising.”

“I am humbled and honored to have been selected for this award and truly appreciate the opportunities that the College of Natural Science have given me to grow in this field and be recognized,” Currington said. “I am fortunate to have leadership that supports my professional growth both inside and outside of MSU and also allows me the flexibility to look at creative ways to reach and support our students.”

Currington will receive her award at the NACADA Great Lakes Region 5 meeting on March 17 in Rosemont, Ill.
