Microbiology & Molecular Genetics
Thank you for checking in on us through the department’s spring newsletter. Spring can’t come soon enough after a rough winter in East Lansing, Mich., including two days during which the university shut down with the exception of critical operations—an extremely rare occurrence—due to painfully cold temperatures arising from a “polar vortex.”
Summer is upon us and the creative work by our faculty is blooming.
This issue of the MMG newsletter introduces the department’s new chair, Victor DiRita, an MSU alum who also serves as the Rudolph Hugh Endowed Chair in Microbial Pathogenesis. In his first message, he asserts that Spartan excellence and pride are not confined to the field or gym, as MMG is fortunate to share those traits in its labs and classrooms.
