MSU's Piotr Piecuch named Xingda Lecturer by Peking University Piotr Piecuch, Michigan State University Distinguished Professor of chemistry and adjunct professor of physics and astronomy in the College of Natural Science, was named the 2019 Xingda Lecturer by Peking University, China. $2.26 million NIH grant supports study of early-life adversity and lifetime disease risk Three Michigan State University researchers—Adam Moeser, AJ Robison, and Cynthia Jordan—have received a five-year $2.26 million National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to help determine lifetime disease risk for people who’ve experienced early-life adversity. NSF grant supports study of low-oxygen zones and their impact on ocean life An international team of scientists that includes MSU paleo-oceanographer Dalton Hardisty has received a three-year, $1 million grant from the NSF Division of Ocean Sciences to conduct research related to the impacts that low-oxygen zones have on today's oceans. New game app gets young girls involved in STEM Huey-Wen Lin, assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering at MSU, developed the new game app, “Quantum 3,” to get the general public and K-12 children involved in learning more about Quantum Chromodynamics, or QCD, a theory that governs the interactions of subatomic particles that form all stable matter. Student awarded prestigious Marshall Scholarship Emily Steffke, a Michigan State University Honors College senior majoring in neuroscience in the College of Natural Science and English in the College of Arts and Letters, has been named a Marshall Scholar. NatSci faculty recognized among the world's most highly cited researchers Four MSU College of Natural Science researchers—Christoph Benning, Gregg Howe, Sheng Yang He and G. Philip Robertson—are among eight MSU faculty members and 6,217 scientists from around the world recognized in the 2019 Highly Cited Researchers List, an annual compilation of the global leaders in scientific influence by Clarivate Analytics.
