A bachelor's degree in computational mathematics provides students with a strong mathematical foundation in problem solving and mathematical proof. Senior-level courses require the use of computer programming and its applications from a mathematical perspective. The highest math requirements focus more on computational mathematics than theoretical mathematics. 

One of the career goals for this degree is to prepare students for areas that require a significant amount of problem solving with computational models and tools, such as the information technology field.  

A Bachelor of Arts in computational mathematics requires more of a foreign language competency than a Bachelor of Science degree.
