The College of Natural Science has several college-level accounts that are managed by the Marketing Office. Please contact MSU NatSci Social Media Manager Mistie Jordan (mathewsm@msu.edu) for support with your social media efforts.


Looking to start a social media channel? 

Social media platforms are an excellent way to build community, have conversations, and engage with your target audience with branded MSU content. A polished social media presence also makes for a well-rounded, reputable institution and gives credibility.

Maintaining an active social media account takes time.  You will need to:

  • determine who is responsible for the account (more than one person) and define a process for transition of accounts
  • follow MSU Brand guidelines
  • follow accessibility guidelines
  • define goals and areas of content - may be different for different platforms
  • plan content - Strategy 
  • build content
  • post content - tip: social media algorithms favor those who post consistently
  • monitor accounts and messages - MSU Community Guidelines -- comments/content moderation
  • interact with other accounts and messages - MSU Social Media Directory
  • store content assets
  • measure the impact of your communications - Analytics

An active social media account will have a continuous flow of posts and interactions linked to a strategy that supports your efforts for maintaining a presence on social media.
