Academic Specialists
Reappointment and Promotion
The academic specialist continuing system consists of two consecutive probationary appointments mandatory reviews for reappointment and for reappointment with continuing status at the department/college/institution levels. Academic specialists with continuing status undergo a similar review for promotion to the senior academic specialists but without a mandatory timeline.
Fixed-term academic specialists do not have required reviews for reappointment. They
are eligible from promotion to senior academic specialist after 5 years. The criteria
for promotion to senior status is the same for both continuing and fixed-term academic
specialists.
