MSU CAPS Podcast Resources

While college can be a really fun and exciting place, it can also be overwhelming and stressful at times. Sometimes you need help or advice for how to cope successfully during these instances. MSU’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services (also known as CAPS), offers a wide array of services for students who may need assistance. While you can always schedule a consultation with CAPS over the phone if needed (click here), they also offer some resources that are easy to access from your own home. These resources are videos and podcasts that are completely free and do not require you to speak with anyone.

  • Coping with Adjustment - This video goes over some of the common big adjustments and changes (social, academic, daily life etc.) that one may struggle with and how to deal with them.
  • Mindfulness Skills (Breathing) - This video goes over how to use your breathing in a therapeutic way. Social worker Jeffery Boyce also goes through a guided mindfulness breathing exercise that you can follow along with.
  • Exploring Gratitude - Silvia Leija and Jeff Baker go over what gratitude means and how to practice it. They speak on shifting attention from negatives in life to what is actually going well.
    • Gratitude Meditation - Silvia Leija, a licensed family and marriage therapist, goes through a guided meditation exercise centered around gratefulness.
  • Mental Health Care is the Best Type of Self Care! - This podcast talks about the importance of mental health and what you can do to take care of yourself. You can access this podcast on Spotify, Apple podcasts, Google podcasts and more!

Check out these resources for some really great information about maintaining mental health and overall wellbeing. Check out some of the other videos and podcasts not mentioned in this blog post on the CAPS website
