APA & APSA Interim Assignment Procedure
Under the Administrative Professionals Association (APA) and the Administrative Professional Supervisors Association (APSA), interim assignments where the Employee has performed in an interim (or acting) assignment for fifteen (15) or more working days shall receive a minimum lump sum payment $500. The interim (or acting) assignment must cover a vacancy or leave, either substantially or in full. An additional payment would not be merited for de minimis additional duties and responsibilities, which are already within the scope of the employee's role.
PROCEDURE:
- Before making this assignment with an employee, refer to the contract to confirm that
the terms and conditions of these articles apply to the situation:
- Administrative Professionals Association (APA) – Article 13.III Interim Assignments – 99 (p.32)
- Administrative Professional Supervisors Association (APSA) – Article 11 Interim Assignments (p.58)
- Determine the terms and conditions of the interim assignment covering all of the components required under the contract
- Use the NatSci Template – APA_APSA Interim Assignment to document the terms and conditions,
as well as the approval and consent in writing.
- Copy this letter to your department letterhead before seeking approval and consent.
- Maintain the integrity of the template by only entering text in the areas indicated by brackets [ ].
- Once the document is fully executed, the assignment may begin, and payment may be
requested via EBS using the Additional Pay Form located under Actions on the HR/Payroll Forms & Cost Redistributions Tile.
- Use the wage type - 1286 - Acting/Interim Pay
- Attached the interim assignment document to the transaction before submitting.
- Once submitted, the request will proceed through the workflow.
