NatSci seniors honored with MSU Board of Trustees Awards

Twenty-eight (28) Michigan State University College of Natural Science (NatSci) graduating seniors were among 179 students who received an MSU Board of Trustees Award for earning a 4.0 GPA — the highest scholastic average — at the close of their last semester before graduation. 

During its April 22 meeting, the MSU Board of Trustees presented a record-breaking number of graduating seniors with these awards. In addition to being recognized by the Board of Trustees, students also will be acknowledged during their individual commencement ceremonies in May and will receive $1,000 from the university for their accomplishments. 

“On behalf of the College of Natural Science, I would like to congratulate this exceptional group of NatSci graduates on their distinguished academic achievements at MSU,” said Lynmarie Posey, NatSci associate dean for undergraduate studies.

The NatSci students receiving this recognition are:

  • Ahmed B. Ahmed: physiology, College of Natural Sciences. Ahmed is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and attended Huron High School.
  • Christopher J. Becker: human biology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Becker is from Mattawan, Michigan, and attended Mattawan High School.
  • Emma C. Boismier: genomics and molecular genetics, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Boismier is from Plymouth, Michigan, and attended Canton High School.
  • Alexis A. Brecht: genomics and molecular genetics, College of Natural Science and Psychology, College of Social Science. Brecht is from Shelby Township, Michigan, and attended Utica Center for Mathematics.
  • Aneesh S. Cherukuri: neuroscience, College of Natural Science. Cherukuri is from Novi, Michigan, and attended Novi High School.
  • Sara A. Cook: integrative biology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Cook is from Grosse Ile, Michigan, and attended Grosse Ile High School.
  • Carson K. Gates: physiology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Gates is from Kansas City, Missouri, and attended Staley High School.
  • Izzy M. Ginnett: physics and advanced mathematics, College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College Ginnett is from Aurora, Illinois, and attended Oswego East High School.
  • Jarrod J. Griffus: biochemistry and molecular biology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Griffus is from Saginaw, Michigan, and attended Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy.
  • Charles E. Hultquist: physics, College of Natural Science and Advanced Mathematics, College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College, Hultquist is from Bartlett, Illinois, and Bartlett High School.
  • Olivia M. Jeakle: physiology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Jeakle is from Charlevoix, Michigan, and attended Charlevoix High School.
  • Brian W. Kufel: zoology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Kufel is from Marilla, New York, and attended Canisius High School.
  • Zachary J. Lee: human biology, College of Natural Science. Lee is from Homer, Michigan, and attended Marshall High School.
  • Sameera M. Mahimkar: human biology, College of Natural Science and Dietetics, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. A member of the Honors College Mahimkar is from Utica, Michigan, and attended Utica Academy for International Studies.
  • Cole T. Mallory: biochemistry and molecular biology, College of Natural Science. Mallory is from Laingsburg, Michigan, and attended Owosso High School.
  • Yashwanth Manne: biochemistry and molecular biology/biotechnology, College of Natural Science, and data dcience, College of Natural Science. Manne is from Canton, Michigan, and attended Huron High School.
  • Kennedy C. May: biomedical laboratory science, College of Natural Science. May is from Waterford, Michigan, and attended Waterford Kettering High School.
  • Andrew R. McDonald: advanced mathematics, College of Natural Science and computer science, College of Engineering. A member of the Honors College, McDonald is from Hudson, Ohio, and attended Hudson High School.
  • Emily G. Parker: zoology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Parker is from Schoolcraft, Michigan, and attended Schoolcraft High School.
  • Anthony J. Schulte: biochemistry and molecular biology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Schulte is from Temperance, Michigan, and attended Bedford Senior High School.
  • Rachel L. Steinhorst: physics, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Steinhorst is from Appleton, Wisconsin, and attended Appleton North High School.
  • Isaac S. Torrey: neuroscience, College of Natural Science. Torrey is from Rockford, Michigan, and graduated from Forest Hills Central High School.
  • Jared A. Warzynski: human biology, College of Natural Science. Warzynski is from Oakland, Michigan, and attended Stoney Creek High School.
  • Carter M. White: genomics and molecular genetics, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. White is from Rochester, Michigan, and attended Rochester Adams High School.
  • Nicholas R. Williams: physiology, College of Natural Science, and a member of the Honors College. Williams is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Seven Hills School.
  • Alexandre S. Wolf: physiology and neuroscience, College of Natural Science. A member of the Honors College Wolf is from East Lansing, Michigan, and attended Bath Community High School.
