Student Tech

Life as a student can be tough, but we can use technology to make our lives as students a little easier and more convenient. In this blog post, we are going to discuss some different tech solutions you can use to make your life a little easier.

2-1 Devices

A great piece of technology that can not only make your life easier but lighten up your backpack is a 2-1 device, such as a Microsoft Surface Pro device or an Apple Ipad pro, among others on the market. These devices are great because they offer a lot of utility that you just can not get from other laptops. These devices are effectively digital notebooks, planners, and computers all built into one light combat device.

External Monitor

Another great piece of technology to go along with your 2-1 device or laptop is an external monitor that you can set up on your desk at home. This allows for you to work efficiently from multiple screens and add some extra size to get away from the smaller footprint of 2-1 and laptops.

Digital Notes

One great thing about 2-1 devices is the ability to draw on them and take handwritten notes on your device. One great piece of software for this purpose is Microsoft OneNote, which all Michigan State Students get to use for free! The other great thing about OneNote is all of your notes are backed up to the cloud so they can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection so you never have to worry about losing access to your study material.

Smart notebook

If you’re not one to like writing on computer screens, there are many smart notebook options that allow you to write on physical notebooks before scanning what you have written into a virtual notebook, giving you the best of both worlds.

Digital Calendar

The days of planners are past us, as digital calendars offer all of the same advantages and more when it comes to planning out and scheduling your time. The biggest advantage is that you can sync your calendar across all your devices and always have instant access to all your information.

Digital Scanning Tools

Need to make a PDF or a digital copy of paperwork but don’t have a copier around? Well, luckily there are apps like Microsoft Office Lens and Adobe Scan which can turn your phone into a handheld scanner, leaving the days of needing a scanner behind as you can now seamlessly turn any document digital.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

As college students our focus on academics is important, so why should we let our surroundings divert our focus? Noise-canceling headphones are a great option for those who are serious about getting into their zone and hammering out some studying. Not only will it help you to better focus, but many of the top-selling noise-canceling headphones on the market also offer great sound quality so you can jam out to music in your free time.

Portable Chargers and Charging Hubs

As the world becomes ever more digitized we keep picking up more and more tech devices, possibly making it a chore to constantly switch out chargers from the outlet or making your nightly routine of charging your devices for tomorrow a chore. Thankful there are many charging stations and portable chargers available on the market to make charging up less of a hassle.
