Promotion

The College applies unit and institutional policies to evaluate the merit and update the rank/status of our faculty and academic specialists according to clearly articulated criteria and standards.

Tenure System Faculty

The College supports tenure-system faculty through their reappointment, promotion and tenure (RPT) review, including delayed actions; requests for extensions of probationary appointments; and the formative review of mid-career progress by tenured associate professors. Below are college due dates for each promotion-related action and links to detailed information about each process.

  Due date: December 1 (due to the Provost February 27)

  Due date: None, but within 2 years of event/constraint and prior to next mandatory review date

Fixed Term Faculty

The College supports fixed-term faculty through the promotion process and, for those with teaching appointments, through Designation B. You will find information about these processes and college due dates below.

• Promotion of Fixed Term Faculty (Associate or Full Professor, Senior Instructor)
  Due date: March 1
• Designation B for fixed-term teaching appointments in the Union of Non-Tenure Track Faculty (UNTF)
  Due dates: October 12 and February 20

Academic Specialists

The College supports continuing system academic specialists through reappointment, reappointment with continuing status, and promotion to senior specialist.

We also support fixed-term academic specialists through promotion to senior specialist, and, for specialists with teaching appointments, through Designation B.
