Undergraduate Research Grants

NatSci students conducting biomedical research are eligible for grants to partially cover the costs of presenting their research at a national conference.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrollment as a full-time student at MSU with a primary major in the College of Natural Science. Students in Lyman Briggs, Engineering, Agriculture & Natural Resources, and other colleges are not eligible; please see your college for similar scholarship opportunities.
  • A student’s faculty research mentor does not have to be appointed in NatSci but must be an MSU faculty member.
  • Students may receive an undergraduate research grant from NatSci no more than one time.

Award Name Semester Description
Dr. Fred Stutzenberger Endowed Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF)  Fall, Spring  NatSci majors participating in biomedical research at MSU. Awards of $250 to support student travel to present their research at a national meeting. The student’s MSU faculty research mentor must submit a request for this travel funding with the presentation abstract and confirmation of acceptance to Estrella Starn (starn@msu.edu). Applications accepted on a rolling basis until funds expended.
