Social media platforms are an excellent way to build community, have conversations, and engage with your target audience with branded MSU content. A polished social media presence also makes for a well-rounded, reputable institution and gives credibility.
Maintaining an active social media account takes time. You will need to:
- determine who is responsible for the account (more than one person) and define a process for transition of accounts
- follow MSU Brand guidelines
- follow accessibility guidelines
- define goals and areas of content - may be different for different platforms
- plan content - Strategy
- build content
- post content - tip: social media algorithms favor those who post consistently
- monitor accounts and messages - MSU Community Guidelines -- comments/content moderation
- interact with other accounts and messages - MSU Social Media Directory
- store content assets
- measure the impact of your communications - Analytics
An active social media account will have a continuous flow of posts and interactions linked to a strategy that supports your efforts for maintaining a presence on social media.
